This site collects nothing about you for itself: no cookies, no analytics, no tracking, no forms and no accounts. What a visit does involve, and what happens to an email you send us, is below. As of 29 Sep 2026.
What a visit involves
- No cookies, and no browser storage. No page on this site sets a cookie or keeps anything in your browser’s storage. Your browser may still keep copies of the pages in its own cache, as it does for any site.
- No analytics and no tracking. There are no visitor counters, tracking pixels, advertising or social-media embeds, and no fonts, images or scripts loaded from other sites.
- Hosting. The site is hosted on GitHub Pages, a service of GitHub. Your browser sends each request to GitHub, with your IP address and the details any browser sends. GitHub’s documentation for GitHub Pages says that it logs and stores visitors’ IP addresses for security purposes (read on 29 Sep 2026), and GitHub’s own privacy statement covers that. We do not receive those logs.
- The live panel on the home page. While the home page is open, and only if
JavaScript is on, your browser fetches a small file of our test figures from
raw.githubusercontent.com, which is also GitHub’s, about once a minute. That request goes to GitHub, not to us. It sends no cookie; like any request a browser makes, it carries your IP address, and it names this site as the page that asked. No other page on this site makes a request to any other site. - Links to other sites. The download links on this site, and the few other links to other sites, take you there when you follow them; nothing is requested from those sites until you do.

If you email us
If you write to otso@karhu.tv, we read your message and use it, with the address you wrote from and anything you tell us in it, to answer you and to deal with what you asked about. It is held by the email services we use to receive and read our mail.
We keep it for as long as that takes and, after that, for as long as we need it as a record of our dealings with you. We do not publish a fixed period.
Our legal basis for this is our legitimate interest in answering the messages people send us; where you ask us to take steps towards a contract, it is taking those steps at your request.

Bear Media Services LTD, trading as Karhu TV, is the data controller for the personal information this note describes. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it, to delete it, or to limit our use of it. Where you asked us to take steps towards a contract, you can also ask for a copy of what you gave us in a form you can pass to someone else. Write to otso@karhu.tv.
You have the right to object to our use of your information where we rely on our legitimate interest, as we do in answering your messages. Write to the same address, and we will stop unless we have compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests, or need the information for a legal claim.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK’s supervisory authority for data protection: ico.org.uk.
